There’s no better way to show someone you truly understand them than by picking the perfect engagement ring. But sometimes even the most dedicated of other halves needs a little inspiration!
So if you’re stumped for engagement ring ideas, or if you want to make doubly sure you’ve got it just right, then take a look at the hottest engagement ring trends for 2013 to make that special someone’s heart melt.
Could there be a better symbol for love than a bow? Two halves of the same piece of string, knotted together in an infinite loop! Well, luckily, bows were big news in 2013 and they’re set to continue their engagement reign next year. When you choose a bow ring you can go big and bold or small and subtle and even opt to add a little colour with precious stones. Increase the bling factor with paved bows or add interest by choosing a ring that combines two different metals.
2. Art Deco
Thanks to the hit Baz Luhrmann remake of ‘The Great Gatsby’, all things 1920s are the absolute bees knees on the catwalks – and the fad for flapper style has trickled right onto the engagement fingers of bright young girls about town! A large, square cut stone and neat, symmetrical design will hit this trend head on, but a period style ring is timeless, so it’ll never be passé!
Why have one big diamond when you can have oodles of little ones? Pave is the engagement ring style du jour for girls that love a bit of bling. Diamonds in a series give an incredible sparkle and cause a major impact without breaking the bank! If your girl is a princess bride, she’ll adore the magical glint of a pave ring. You can opt for straight rows or even elaborate pave patterns. Or, you can go the whole hog and choose a pave wedding band with a larger stone set into it.
There’s no denying we love our celebrities and current big names like Kim Kardashian and Britney Spears are sporting massive rocks on their left hands! LA style rings with outsized stones are a huge trend in the US that’s working its way over to British shores, but you don’t necessarily need to spend millions in order to get your hands on a big rock. If your bride to be will prefer style over substance, then choose a simulated diamond instead, it’ll cost you a fraction of the price!
5. Pure and Simple
There’s one engagement ring style that never goes out of fashion and that’s a simple silver or platinum band with a modest round stone set within it. But this year’s twist on the classic design is coloured stones. Whilst the traditionalists favour colourless round diamonds, last year saw an increase in the number of engagement rings using rubies, sapphires and even black diamonds. A black diamond engagement ring is perfect for girls who prefer to do things differently and will really make her stand out from the crowd!
