So you want to go on a break to get away from the daily stress of your life. Unfortunately, hitting the road is not always possible. You may not have the time to go away for a long period. The fuel prices are not too friendly either. Hopping on a plane to go visit an exotic island may be out of your reach as well. There is no need to fret, however, as there is another option that has gotten quite popular in the recent years: go on a staycation! As the name implies, you stay put wherever you are and still enjoy a vacation. Do not be turned off by the idea of a staycation. It does not mean that you have to stay inside the house the entire time – though that can be part of it. Take a look at these staycation ideas that will suit practically any budget and that will give you a grand time as well!
Catch up on movies/TV shows/books
The chances are that you are into at least one of these three: watching movies, watching TV shows, or reading books. If you simply need to relax and forget work and personal issues for a while, why not plan a weekend of pleasure with your favorite movies, TV shows, or books? You can even do these with some friends, which will make your staycation even more enjoyable.
Go on a food adventure
You can combine this with the previous idea. While you are on your staycation, why not try to make meal time an adventure? If you can, do not plan what you will eat. Just go with whatever you are feeling at the time. Alternatively, go try something that you haven’t tried before! You always have the option to cook if that is your thing, or you can go for take away. Another great idea is to visit the little pockets of international communities that are bound to be in your city. You will certainly have an adventure then!
When was the last time you had your hair done? When was the last time you had a massage? Maybe you’re not the type to pamper yourself this way, but there will be at least one thing that you like doing to take care of your body. Take the time to do this while on your staycation. You might need to shell out a bit of money, but it will still be a lot cheaper than going away for a vacation!
Visit museums, parks, and other local attractions
Admit it – you probably have not seen every attraction there is to see in your area. This is a common occurrence so there is no need to be embarrassed. Instead, take advantage of your staycation to discover the hidden gems in your city. From museums to parks to markets – you will have a blast seeing your city in a different light!
